An INDIGENOUS /INNOVATIVE/PATENTED technology of societal importance, Microwave Disinfection System for BioMedical Waste/ Hospital Waste has been developed by Society for Applied Microwave Electronics And engineering Research (SAMEER), working as autonomous R & D institution under Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MEITY)

Amongst the various methods recommended for the disposal of infectious waste, i.e., incineration, autoclaving, microwave, deep burial, etc., microwave offers many advantages. Microwave Disinfection System replaces the conventional Autoclave, Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP) and partly the Incinerator.

Microwave Technology is based on the principle of generation of high-frequency electromagnetic waves. These waves penetrate and cause the particles within the Biomedical waste to vibrate and stimulate internal molecular heating therapy providing extraordinarily high-level disinfection from within kills all pathogens, bacteria, and microorganism completely and consistently.

Performing testing of the Microwave Disinfection System for Biomedical waste is done by Department of Bacteriology, HAFFKINE INSTITUTE, Mumbai, a premier microbiological test laboratory in the country.

PRETREATMENT OF BIO-MEDICAL WASTE as per Bio-Medical Waste Management Rules 2016 vide notification dated 28/03/2016.

 As per Biomedical Waste Management (BMWM) Rules 2016, Medical waste needs to be “PRETREATED” at the point of the generation before being disposing of

The “PRE-TREATMENT” of this Highly Infectious Waste at the point of generation/the first source (i.e. GOVT Hospital/Private Hospital/Nursing Home/Dispensaries. Primary Health Centers/Medical colleges and research centers/paramedical services/ Veterinary colleges/animal research centers. Blood banks/mortuaries/autopsy centers/ Biotechnology Institutions) can be successfully done by “MICROWAVE DISINFECTION SYSTEM” (MicroDs-10, MicroDs-30 and MicroDs-60) whereby saves Doctors, nurses, hospital, health care staff and patients at the first source from infections and thereby eliminating its spread during transportation of this BIOMEDICAL WASTEfor general public.
